Dr. Hamed's research is concerned with investigating the social phenomena exhibited on social media platforms (e.g., Twitter). He has contributed novel network models (e.g., K-H networks) and algorithms (HashPairMiner) to generate early warning alerts for drug-side effects by mining billions of tweets. He is currently working on extending the scope of his algorithms to discover new links that better explain the relationship between food quality and health issues. Dr. Hamed is also leading a new social media project (e.g., crRank algorithm) that ranks users based on their posting and tweeting contributions, that doesn't depend on the identity of people. Such a project will play a significant role in suppressing misinformation and fake news spread on social media.
